Raine's cyberpunk OCs!!

TW // violence, drug abuse, prostitution, suicide, suicidal ideation

Once upon a time young Vaughn agreed to have his construct saved. A perfect snapshot of this young, bright mind. He was a naturally skilled hacker/programmer and thus a valuable subject to.. whomever. (Cough, Hammond/Militech, cough...)Then he continues on his way, slowly becoming more and more entangled within the company. He incurs an impossible debt somehow. Whether it's by using their tech without reading the fine print or discovering something he was never supposed to find, or both, he can't possibly work hard enough to pay back what he "owes" in this lifetime. So, overworked and overwhelmed, he blows his brains out one night. That's all not too important. What is important is his mind, the potential there. His creators can't possibly let something like this go to waste. So, something originally intended to be a salvage operation turns into "oh hey his brain is mostly useless but his brain stem is fine and his nervous system just needs a lil dust off," so they decide to spend the time and money (more debt yayy) replacing his brain, face and upper jaw. Then they shove his still fresh faced psyche back into his body, do some tweaking memory wise, make him more subservient and continue to use his skill like nothing ever happened. They were wanting to put a deep dive port into his head for months at this point and now they conveniently can, along with making his neural interface practically seamless with their tech. They put prototypes into him, things that aren't even available black market. They use him as a human test subject for upwards of thirty years.
He works mindlessly, never questioning himself or his purpose.
Then, one day, the work is done. He remembers nothing about this, but he's simply cut off from the mainframe and dropped in favour of newer, fancier toys that don't require so much maintenance. And thus Vaughn finds himself in a place he partially helped ruin. (Unknowingly.)For the first year or so, he's despondent. Wandering from place to place while the more delicate tech inside him begins to degrade from wear and tear.He picks up drinking to ease the unexplainable headaches. Slowly, he eases back into reality.

roomies

Vaughn eventually ends up in night city, one way or another. For the first few months he doesn't even live anywhere for long, just going from party to party, show to show, couch to couch. One day, he meets Fenn, who's escorting at a club he begins to frequent. They hit it off WAY too easily, and quickly become close.Vaughn eventually meets the other roommates. J first (with whom he shares a fiery relationship), then Alita and Knox.Fenn pulls some strings and gets Vaughn a job with the agency they work at, and thus Vaughn is introduced to another level of the nightlife. But not all is as good as it seems. J has been trying to leave Night City for a while and more importantly leave escorting behind. But the contracts J (and the rest) have entered are predatory and bind each member to the agency in uhh (il)legal ways.J begins to speak out, trying to obtain a lawyer who would even consider his case. Vaughn isn't easily convinced, especially because Vaughn is convinced he needs the job, but eventually he is persuaded into moving away. One day, J goes missing. After a long and grueling search in which the roommates hire solos to find him, J's remains are discovered in a car that was set on fire the night previous. What post mortem info can be obtained suggests a brutal end. Broken knees, multiple stab wounds, cyberware ripped out.It comes as a shock to all four roommates. And the threat looms heavy over three of them, with only Knox being out of harm's way as a bouncer for the club. The death hits Vaughn the hardest. He detatches almost completely from reality, spends more time at the club than at home, and throws himself into his work.Knox and Vaughn sorta trauma bond and have a brief fling filled with toxicity and uhh grief.By the time Vaughn meets Vegas around a year later, he still hasn't fully recovered, just covers it up with partying and different vices. By then, Knox and Vaughn are genuinely close and have talked through much of the shit that happened.

Vegas

Vegas is introduced to the group through Fenn, whom he has a brief relationship with. It doesn't last long, mostly because Fenn is looking for a serious relationship and Vegas simply isn't.Vegas and Vaughn meet at the club where Fenn and Vaughn both work, and have an on and off uhh "working relationship". Aka Vegas pays to watch Vaughn party and take him home at the end of the night. Or yanno. To the bathroom/greenroom/alleyway/staircase/etc.It's a sorta no-strings-attatched thing, so both parties are happy.

present day

Vaughn is straight chillin. He works occasionally as a netrunner, mostly for the Mox, but mostly just escorts and lives his life (aside from subbing in as a gunner for Vegas' races). He's still not quite over J, but allows himself to be as close to peace as he can be. He doesn't particularly wanna leave the agency, but is always careful about what he says and who hears it.He's overall easy to please. Easy in general tbh. Amicable personality, slutty as all hell, and materialistic.

He's a fairly handsome yet intense looking man with a straight, upturned nose, a fuller upper lip (which is artificial, almost silicone type material now), hooded eyes and strong cheekbones. His faceplate creates obvious seams running from his mouth, up his cheekbones and over his brow ridge. Because of this, he doesn't really emote much and much of his reaction rests in his eyes, which are a silver sortve colour.Beneath the faceplate is a sleek interface. His nose has been largely replaced and thus his olfactory systems are artificial. When he parts his lips it's clear much of his teeth have been replaced, with only the bottom ones actually still his original bones. He can smile to an extent, curl his lip up, open his jaw wide, etc. He has a tongue and a constructed upper palette, so he can talk fine.
His voice is however somewhat modified to be steadier and holds almost a buzz??

He has short, scruffy, black hair hair almost in a French crop or undercut. The back of his head is a really obvious deep net port and the back of his neck and spine have armoured plating not quite grafted into his skin, but resting on top. It's all seamless and flexible enough for him to move without stiffness, but it does reinforce his spine and disappear beneath his skin at the small of his back.Moving onto his torso. Again, obvious seams blooming from his neck down the middle of his chest and curling up around his ribs. These parts can open to reveal armour beneath, and organs encased in a flexible, clear shell(?) beneath that. His lungs, stomach/intestines and heart are still organic but many of his other functions have been long replaced with 'sturdier' versions. He also has a few extra things like a blood pump connected to his heart that would serve to replace it if need be, a warm core around his sternum that powers all of this, and a few other enhancements. (Adrenaline pump, insulin pump???)
He has faint scars running down his limbs from having his bones reinforced.
Additionally, he has a modified left hand. It's basically to ensure his dexterity remains the same for both hands. His modifications allow for more strength specifically.

In the apex/Titanfall world AND ESPECIALLY the cyberpunk 2077 universe, there's a lot of fast fashion and alot of unique looks. He doesn't wanna look like everyone else but also doesn't like shiny, more upbeat clothing. He likes neutral tones, comfy jackets, undershirts, and pants that are comfortable enough to do shit in. Like run, crouch etc.Vaughn does like jewelry tho that's probably gonna be like his thing. Obvi he's a silver boy. Probably has lots of rings.Vaughn has a hand tattoo on his right side!
